Good stuff TommyLlew,
I just caught up with you (and Trev and his dad), and must tell you again...I truly appreciate, enjoy and admire you and your writing.

Some of my more recent fav.'s :

"Actually, she worked her way up to that smile, first with a downward glance, a wringing of her hands, a tucking of her red hair behind one ear. Then she looked up from beneath her bangs and stabbed me with that smile, right in the eyes."

"She’d be there, just as sure as shoes would be on my feet or a collar would be on my shirt. It was an inevitability."

"I figured she was my girl and pictured her decorating my side when I walked into a room."

"Are there creatures other than girls who smile like that? Maybe crocodiles, but when they rip your heart out, they don’t hand it back in that gentle, bloody way."

"Feeling acts more as a point of reference than an experience."

"I suppose being forgotten is the great fear of all mothers. Or all parents."

"I’ve known people that others called saints, but they generally only look that way from a distance. Once you get to know someone—anyone—up close, we’re all jerks."

"If I could, I would declare today a holiday for you. A holiday from all your fear and all your worries."

"If I could take your fear from you and carry it for you, I would. If I could take your burdens from you, I would carry them gladly. All the weight that bends you down, let it be mine to bear. Your burden bends you down. Let it be mine to bear."

"He is former. In the present, he is nothing but sourness in size 48 pants."

"Your quotes roll around in my mind like a bit of beach glass in the surf. Your words get less sharp and more luminous the more I think about them."

"There’s nothing to take your mind off troubles like killing a few hundred zombies."
"She has an answer to every question and she’s really good at focusing her chi."

"I sat tenderly on his railing and asked him if he knew anything for certain."

"That kind of truth is valuable and there’s less of it around than you may think. It reassures us. Gives us that pause, when we can exhale and get our feet back under ourselves."

"You’ll love both the beauty of that moment and the predictability of its arrival."

Some of your words hit me at just the right time, in just the right way that they are instant classics in my world...thanks for being so poetic !

What is particularly great about this entry is Google's text-aware ads from internet-savvy witches. I usually read Letteroffdead from the RSS feed so I am sure I have missed some choice tie-ins.

Your **** stories are making me sad, dude. I keep remembering the first time I met Jan. We sat on the back steps of my "new" house. I told her I was 5. She told me she was 7. Then she told me that her dad had died.

Tom,

Your writing has once again moved me...this time even to tears. The moment when the Dad has fallen asleep and Trevor's Mom let's herself go, just bawling uncontrollably.

I all too easily pictured myself with Danielle at my side and I tell you, I was reminded once again that I better be living each day loving those around me and not wasting any precious time.

Thank you for the inspirational reminder, intended or not. "-)

The ads basically don't work at all. I'm using Google Adsense, but it does a mostly awful job connecting ads to the content. So far I've made a grand total of $8 in ad revenue, and hosting costs me $20 a month. Ah well. It's a heckuva fun project.

So I stayed up last night til midnight reading all of these - quite exciting. How do the ads work? I'm getting ticked they don't figure out the boat and the woods and the "fogland" and wonder how long it will drag on.....but it is kind of the exquisite drag on like Bruce Willis and Cybil Shephard in Moonlighting.

I always heard your after-life was what you expect. Those that believe in hell, get their own hell; those that think heaven is angels and wings, and think they deserve that - get that. Since I don't expect anything, maybe I'll end up in town...

I wandered in a bit of a daze into the Laughing Gull and Sung-Hee set me down and gave me a cup of her miserable coffee which was as bad then as it is now. Not bad enough to be interesting, but not good enough to be enjoyable.

Some lines just turn something inside me just right...this is one of them.

I really enjoy having a good writer for a good friend!

I think there need to be some postings about the neighbor girl who, if only she took off her glasses and let down her ponytail, would become worthy of dating Trevor.

I haven't read these for a couple weeks and just caught up. I really enjoyed reading 2 weeks worth at once. I find Trevor very believable. And his dad and the "place" he's in interesting. Can't wait to find out more, ut I think I'll do it on Fridays to get a week at a time.

Honestly, I would not be as cavalier on the romance side of it. i.e. Abstinence makes the heart grow fonder "-)

I would advise my son to not get too involved with the girl and that this is one area I wish I had waited on.

Now, as far as the bully goes...

Always be prepared to defend yourself and if necessary, take him out.
